When will my student ikamet be automatically cancelled?

Your student ikamet is cancelled if you:

Take a leave of absence (kayıt dondurma).
Sever ties with the university (üniversiteden ilişik kesme — voluntary or disciplinary).
Fail to renew your university registration for a new term/year (kayıt yenilememe).

After cancellation, you no longer have legal student status — you must immediately transition to another valid ikamet category or leave Türkiye.

Watch-outs

A leave of absence — even an officially-approved one for medical reasons — cancels the ikamet. Plan an alternative status BEFORE filing for kayıt dondurma.
"Failing to renew university registration" can be a paperwork oversight (forgetting to pay fees or register on time) — keep tight track of your university's term deadlines.
