What is the acceptance rate for the Türkiye Bursları scholarship?
General information, not legal advice. For high-stakes decisions, confirm with the official institution in the next-step below, or consult a qualified Turkish lawyer.
Pending expert review. This fact is sourced but has not yet been reviewed by an independent legal expert. Treat as a starting point.
Source age note. This fact draws on founder videos dating back to February 2022. YTB updates its rules each application cycle. Cross-check the live announcement on turkiyeburslari.gov.tr before acting on specific numbers (dates, stipends, cut-offs).
Türkiye Bursları is highly competitive. The programme receives over 200,000 applications globally each year and awards roughly 5,000 scholarships across all degree levels — an overall acceptance rate of about 2.5%.
Competition is heavily skewed by field:
- Most competitive (<1% acceptance): Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering. Even a 98% GPA isn't enough on its own.
- Moderately competitive: Business, International Relations, Economics.
- Less competitive (strategic backups): Theology, Turkish Language and Literature, History, Sociology, Regional Studies.
Watch-outs
- Country quotas matter more than the global pool. You're competing against the top applicants from your home country, not against the 200,000-applicant total. A "strong country" pool is far harder to break into than a sparsely represented one.
- The GPA illusion. A 100% GPA doesn't guarantee a scholarship — extracurriculars, proven skills, leadership, and a coherent Letter of Intent break ties among thousands of perfect-GPA candidates.
Next step
Assess your profile objectively. A 91% GPA targeting Medicine with no relevant extracurriculars is a near-zero chance — that slot is better spent on a related STEM field or a strategic backup. See ytb-09 on choosing the 12 program slots.
