Confirm acceptance on the YTB portal

You have a window (usually 2 weeks) to formally accept your placement. If you don't, the offer goes to a waitlisted candidate. This is the only date YTB does NOT chase you about — set the reminder.

YTB issues a placement document (yerleştirme belgesi) you need for the student visa. Print three copies. The Turkish embassy will ask for a stamped original at your visa appointment.

Student visas can take 2-8 weeks depending on country. Lagos and Islamabad consulates are usually 2-3 weeks; smaller embassies can be 6+ weeks. Book the appointment the moment you have the acceptance letter — don't wait for the visa to be cheap.

Flights get more expensive as September approaches. Book the moment your visa is in your hand — typically 4-6 weeks before your TÖMER or program start date. YTB reimburses one-way economy from your home country.

Türkiye gets cold faster than most YTB winners expect — Ankara hits 5°C by November. Bring prescription medication for the first 6 months (Türkiye accepts foreign prescriptions but pharmacy stock varies). Carry 200-500 USD in cash for the first weeks before your Turkish bank account opens.

From the day you land you have three clocks ticking — address registration (20 working days), İkamet appointment booking, and GSS application (90 days from enrolment). Subscribe to the "First 30 Days" pack the day you arrive.
